One of the things that make people think twice before buying flowers for their loved ones is because its a waste of money. Yes! It really feels like a waste of money buying something that will last 2-3 days.
Well I see it that way, so I will speak for myself. The significance of gifts should be to remember who bought them for you.
I asked my fiancé yesterday when was the last time I bought her flowers and she responded by telling me she does not remember. Wow, I said.. I am not the romantic type, but if I am going to buy you flowers at least make it a moment to remember. Take a picture, put it in your calendar, post it on facebook, tag me, tell everyone about it… LOL
Dramatic? I know right. However it cost a lot of money and I would like some appreciation. These flowers I bought for her LAST MONTH (yes I remember) only lasted 3 days, how sad. I could have used that R250 for a T-Shirt instead. This really makes it hard for me to see the significance of spending a lot on flowers that need admin and expire when not attended to.
Yes, she wants me to make her feel special, she wants me to show her how much I love her everyday, even though she knows it. So I have made peace with myself knowing that actions speak louder than words. I have made peace that I need to spend money on small things to make sure she is happy. Correction, nothing is ever small when it comes to women and we should not treat it that way.
The reason she told me she forgot about those roses I bought for her is because she actually wanted me to buy her more. She wants me to make her feel special again, she wants to smell those beautiful roses again. I then came across long life roses, saw the price tag and I was shook! I could buy a Gucci belt or a watch with that money(well maybe I am exaggerating a bit), but then being a stingy person that I am, I calculated how much I spent on flowers this year and it went to almost a thousand bucks. WHOOOO! Long life roses last a minimum of 6 months? This means I could buy her roses twice a year going forward, what a saving!
Imagine everyday she wakes up and she remembers what I mean to her, and can still smell the scent. What an investment, an investment on our love, an investment in my relationship and my pocket lol..
